Docklands Melbourne

Public art is often difficult to get right but MAB’s latest offering for NewQuay Promenade at Docklands on Melbourne’s city waterfront has a special quality that is universally-appealing.

‘Meeting 1’ was created by leading Beijing artist Wang Shugang and consists of eight, life-size red men crouching in a meeting circle.

Currie drew out the key elements of the artwork in the sell to media and the results were incredible.  We focused on the sculpture’s red colour as a multicultural symbol, the significance of the number of statues (eight brings good luck) and the fact that the work was exhibited at the G8 Summit in Germany in 2007.

The Melbourne media loved the artwork and we think you will too.
